REAL BRIDES - Alix Skinner

Posted by Amy Bellamy on

Alix and Dave Skinner said 'I Do' in April '19 at the beautiful Deer Park Country House near Honiton. This stunning venue is set in 80acres of countryside and really set the scene for the couple's big day.

Alix said, "The grounds were breath-taking, and the treehouse was very romantic, which made us fall in love with it even more. We had the option to get married both inside and outside which clinched it for us, and I’m so pleased that the sun was shining so that we could get married at the summer house. All our guests were able to stay on-site so as soon as they arrived they could relax, which was important to us both. The wedding breakfast was held in the orangery, which was bright, spacious and filled with fairy lights which not only set the ambiance but made it feel magical."

Alix chose an elegant ivory  Ronald Joyce wedding dress which she chose because of it's classic style which perfectly suited the venue. She said, "I fell in love with the high-quality material and all the small details, such as the buttons that trailed all the way down the train. It was the last dress that I tried on and myself and my Mum cried, so I knew that it was the one!"

Alix said, "I had a wonderful day at Amica Bridal Boutique, they provided us with a glass of bubbly on arrival and made me feel completely relaxed. I felt like they not only listened but gave their honest opinions too, which is vital if you’re going to pick the dress of your dreams."

Just look at that train... wow.

We asked Alix if she had any funny anecdotes from the day. She said, "There were many funny anecdotes from the big day but only one that I’m willing to share. The day after, I moaned that I didn’t get to try any of my wedding cake, but an hour later someone sent me a photo of myself eating a slice of the cake! I had one too many I suppose…" The couple chose Claire Makes Cakes to make their wedding cake as recommended by the wedding venue.

Alix chose a mixture of roses, lisianthus, freesia, ranunculus, dusty miller and eucalyptus foliage for her bouquet and chose the talented Rosie the Florist to create her gorgeous flowers. Alix's cousin Georgia created her stunning wedding hair (and that of her bridesmaids), whilst Carlisha Dann made the bridal party look and feel fabulous with her make up skills. The bridesmaids wore floor-length lavender grey dresses and looked utterly beautiful.

Alix reflects, "I wouldn’t have done anything differently; the only advice I can give you is to have fun and enjoy every minute of it. The moment that you may feel stressed, ask someone to help because you only get to plan your big day once and I’m extremely jealous of my friends planning theirs now.

There are so many, but my favourite part of the day was saying our personal vows to each other and being surrounded by our friends and family. I loved getting ready at the venue with my bridal party and watching my step-children walk down the aisle in front of me, as page boy and flower girl was a proud moment".

The gorgeous couple spent 4 nights in Sri Lanka and then 6 nights in the Maldives, and were delighted that Alix' parents had booked a surprise chauffeur to take them to the airport the following day!

Alix's advice for future brides-to-be... "Don’t rush any of your decisions and include your husband to be".

Huge congratulations to Alix and Dave, what a gorgeous couple and a truly beautiful wedding day! We were honoured to help you find your dream wedding dress and wish you all the love and luck for your marriage.

Love,

All of us at Amica xxx
